Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya
Founded by the veteran freedom fighter and first Education Minister of the then Madras Province in Independent India Dr. T. S. Avinashilingam Avl, the Vidyalaya has kept up the great tradition of rural upliftment through technological education ever since the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, laid the foundation stone for this prestigious institution. The Vidyalaya as a whole, with 17 institutions, is practically a village of learning, offering education right from kindergarten to PhD in various disciplines reaching out to 6926 students with 426 teachers working. A Sprawling Educational Complex, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya is spread over a pleasantly wooded area of about 300 acres situated 18 Kms from Coimbatore on the Mettupalayam road.
Besides academic activities, RMV also has the following service-oriented departments. These departments, further to serving the common public in and around Perianaickenpalayam, double as laboratories for teacher-trainees for their hands-on experience.

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA):
The SSA, a Government of India initiative to educate all, is a national movement aimed at ‘Education for All’ including the children with disabilities. The Ramakrishna Mission is also the nodal agency for implementing the disability related services of both the central and state government in Coimbatore and the Nilgiris districts of Tamil Nadu. In Coimbatore district the SSA program is executed through 22 blocks, each block being manned by five special educators apart from regular teachers. Four centres have been established in Nilgiris District in Kotagiri, Coonoor, Ooty and Gudalur.
Vvazhndhu Kattuvom Project (VKP):
The VKP is a state government initiative mainly designed to benefit disabled people not covered under the SSA Scheme. Whereas the SSA services are restricted only to school children, the VKP is designed to serve all categories. The blocks assigned to the Ramakrishna Mission are Kongalnagarm, Gudimangalam, and Thondamuthur in Coimbatore district.
